About Me!
My greatest reward as a therapist is being able to help individuals and couples overcome difficulties and lead more satisfying lives. I have always had a deep desire to help others, and chose to become a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor so that I could help others make changes in their lives that enable them to grow. I have been successful at this by creating a warm, welcoming environment where clients can feel safe, understood, and free to express themselves without fear of judgment.
I have over ten years of experience working with individuals and couples in a variety of counseling settings. Prior to establishing my private practice in Bethesda, I worked extensively with men and women going through divorce and separation, as well as with victims of domestic abuse at the Montgomery County Commission for Women Counseling and Career Center in Rockville, MD. In that role I also provided supportive counseling to individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and anger management problems and led Separation and Divorce Support groups.
My counseling experience also included several years working as a school counselor with children and adolescents in elementary, middle and high school, in both private and public schools in Montgomery County.
My life experiences prior to becoming a therapist have proven to be equally important to my success in this field as my counseling education and training have been. I worked for many years in international business in Washington, DC before taking on a more demanding but rewarding position as a stay-at-home mom to three children. The priceless personal experiences of being a parent and wife, along with my earlier career in global business, have strengthened my ability to connect meaningfully with, listen to and understand what my clients bring into our counseling sessions. The unique combination of education, training, work and life experiences has prepared me for helping others navigate a wide range of challenges and transitions.
